This project came about when we were renovating the Merchant & Mills house in Rye (The Grove) and wanted to use our fabrics but within a home setting. The Mish Mash cushion became a product at our sister company, HOUSE, and now you can make one yourself.
Instructions for making a simple cushion with contrast flaps. You can choose from a rectangular envelope cushion with flaps at each end or a square zipped cushion with four flaps, one on each side. This is a great pattern for playing with fabric combinations and using up offcuts. The best fabric combinations are the unexpected ones! We recommend using a slightly lighter weight fabric for the flaps than the body of the cushion.
All seam allowances are 1cm unless otherwise stated.
Skill level - beginner.
This PDF pattern is made up of 3 A4 pages for the mish mash cushion and 5 A4 pages for the four-sided mish mash cushion.
Fabric Suggestions - Light to medium weight woven linen, cotton or hemp such as indian handlooms, block prints, yarn dyed and 185 linens.
