Are you local to Edmonton, Alberta? Or in the area? We invite you to use our order pick-up option, or come take a look in person at the fabrics & patterns before making your final selections.

If you've visited us at the store, then you have probably seen Nicole wearing her denim overalls. She gets people asking her about them ALL THE TIME, so we thought we'd offer a class so you can make your own awesome pair!

Nicole loves hers, they are comfy and easy to wear (ahem...secret pajamas). Overalls are also a fun make with lots of great details and topstitching. So join us and we'll work step by step through your very own pair!

THE PATTERN: We'll be working with the Riley Overalls Pattern from True Bias. The Riley Overalls are a classic relaxed fit, and the pattern offers two length options. They include lots of great details including front bib with patch pockets, rear patch pockets, belt loops and a faux fly. The pattern is available in two size ranges, 0-18 (34" to 46.5" hip measurement) or 14-32 (43.5" to 61.5" hip measurement).

DESCRIPTION: skills you'll learn in this workshop:

  • Reading sewing patterns and size charts.
  • Understanding important measurements for choosing the correct size.
  • Laying out and cutting sewing patterns.
  • All the steps involved in making a professional looking pair of overalls.

WHEN: This class is in three sessions:

  • Session 1 - Thursday March 6th 6-9pm: Choosing size, cutting out pattern & fabric and getting started sewing if time permits.
  • Session 2 - Saturday March 8th 10-3pm: Sewing!!
  • Session 3 - Saturday March 15th 10-3pm: Finish off sewing and install all the lovely hardware!

WHAT'S INCLUDED: The price of the workshop includes instruction, and a $60 credit for fabric. We have included the hardware, interfacing and thread in the price of the workshop, so no need to purchase those. Please stop by the store about a week before class to pick your fabric so it can be prewashed before the first class. Participants will also receive a 15% discount for any additional fabric and notions purchased in-store during the workshop.

WHAT'S NOT: We have not included the pattern in the price since you may already own it! We will have paper copies of both size ranges in store for purchase before the class starts. Participants will also need to bring their sewing machines* and accessories (don't forget your manual, power cord, pins and extra machine needles!). Please bring all you personal sewing tools (seam ripper, snips, tape measure, etc).

OTHER INFO: Prior sewing experience is required to take this class. Sewists must be comfortable threading and operating a sewing machine and have sewn at least one garment pattern. This class is best suited for intermediate sewers or adventurous beginners with a little experience under their belt.

Minimum age is 16 years. Maximum class size is 6 participants.

*Please ensure your sewing machine is in good working order. We request that you bring all your machine accessories and manual.
